|Boardroom discussion without an IP|
dimension is regrettably old-fashioned
"With over 70% of enterprise value now being represented by intangibles, we are beyond the point where IP can be regarded as a specialist subject. There is no doubt that change is on its way. Investors, lenders and insurers are all paying much closer attention to IP risk and value. At the same time intangible asset value driven by M&A, litigation and licensing are now commonplace. That said, General Counsel, Heads of IP and CTOs still comment that IP is not well understood at Board level.Previous Aistemos roundtables have served as a catalyst for evolution and a focal point for the development of best practice, and this one is intended to do likewise. Attendance is recommended for those responsible for the convergence of IP and core business strategy. This is categorically not limited to IP specialists, but extends to those involved in the R&D that leads to the creation of IP and the corporate transactions, litigation and licensing that create or protects.
We’ll be discussing the following issues:
- Is intellectual property recognised by boards as an asset class deserving of C-suite attention?
- What changes are likely to occur in the next five years to corporate reporting of IP and IP strategy?
- What are the key elements of an IP strategy that will transform IP from a cost to profit centre?
- What data and analytics need to underpin IP strategy, and how should they be presented?
The venue is Aistemos's offices, 3rd floor, 90 Long Acre, London WC2E 9RA (conveniently near London's ever-fascinating Covent Garden). Registration begins at 17:00 and discussion commences at 17:30 prompt. Drinks will be served at 18.30 -- but that should not be taken as a sign that discussion will cease at that point!
